Although the test probe is small in size, it is the most critical "precision component" in the testing process.

As a high-frequency consumable, probes are easily contaminated with dust, oil, and metal powder during use. If not maintained properly, it can directly lead to: test failure, increased contact resistance, unstable test results, and premature wear of the needle tip

Ultimately affecting product yield and increasing needle replacement costs.

Do you want the probe to have a longer lifespan and more stable testing?

Centalic combines 40 years of probe manufacturing experience to summarize for you7 core maintenance methods.

Probe maintenance guidelines

1.A good testing environment

The testing environment is the main factor causing dirty test needles. Dust, fibers, and other pollutants floating in the air can adhere to the needles, leading to poor contact; In coastal or high humidity areas, humid air can accelerate the oxidation of probe metal components and increase contact resistance.

Centalic's suggestion:Try to conduct testing in a clean workshop with suitable temperature and humidity. If conditions are limited, dust covers, air purifiers, and dehumidification equipment can be equipped to reduce the erosion of pollutants on the probe from the source.

2.Excellent fixture board

Probes are usually installed in testing fixtures, and the material and processing accuracy of the fixture board directly affect the operating status of the probe. Poor quality boards contain a lot of glass fibers, and the powder generated during testing can easily enter the probe and block the spring movement; Drilling deviation can cause the probe to tilt, generate lateral force, and accelerate needle wear.

First come experience:Choose high-density, low dust fixture materials and ensure that drilling accuracy is controlled within a reasonable range.

3.Choose the appropriate probe head type

Different test objects need to be matched with different needle shapes. If the head shape is chosen improperly, not only will the testing error be large, but it may also cause premature wear of the probe, which needs to be replaced shortly after use.

Centalic provides:We offer various head types such as pointed, round, claw, and flat, and can customize special needles according to the characteristics of the tested object for customers.

4.Reasonable use of work schedule

To prolong the lifespan of the probe, it is necessary to ensure the reasonable use of the working stroke. Exceeding the specified stroke (2/3 of the full stroke) will significantly shorten the lifespan of the probe. Test the pressing speed, if moving at a speed of ≥ 60 times/min, it may shorten the lifespan of the probe. Additionally, it is necessary to ensure that the probe extends and retracts vertically on the device, without overcurrent, etc;

Centalic Reminder:Please make sure to refer to the recommended travel in the probe specification book and regularly check the pressure settings of the testing equipment.

5.Correct installation method

The verticality, height consistency, and stability of the probe installation determine its stress situation during testing. If the probe is tilted, it will generate lateral force when pressed down, causing wear on the needle tube, bending of the needle tip, and even breakage.

Installation points:

Use high-precision installation tools to ensure that each probe is perpendicular to the fixture board;

The tail of the probe should make reliable contact with the wire or connector to avoid virtual connection;

Regularly check if the probe fixing screws on the fixture are loose.

6.Create a probe replacement schedule

'Sharpening the knife does not harm the chopping wood worker', establishing a probe life tracking mechanism can effectively avoid sudden failures. Develop periodic inspection and replacement plans based on the recommended lifespan range of the probe manufacturer and combined with their own testing frequency.

Centalic Services:We have extensive experience in probe application and can provide users with maintenance advice on probes to help you better determine the timing of replacement.

7.Ultrasonic cleaning method for cleaning

When cleaning residues on the probe, ultrasonic vibration can be used to not damage the probe and effectively clean it, thereby extending the service life of the probe.

Centalic Tip:Ultrasonic cleaning will not damage the probe coating and internal structure, but it is important to ensure thorough drying after cleaning.

Although the test probe is small, it ensures product qualityThe 'goalkeeper'. Proper maintenance not only extends the lifespan of probes and reduces testing costs, but also ensures the accuracy and reliability of each test. As a 40 year old probe manufacturer, Suntory has always been committed to providing customers with high-quality probe products and comprehensive technical support.
