The total number of new energy vehicles in China has reached 43.97 million, accounting for over 12% of the total number of vehicles

The latest statistics from the Ministry of Public Security show that by the end of 2025, the number of new energy vehicles in China will exceed 43.97 million, accounting for 12.01% of the total number of vehicles in the country.

This proportion marks a new stage of the new energy transformation in China's automobile market, and green travel has become an increasingly popular choice for more and more people.

From the perspective of segmented data, pure electric vehicles are still the mainstream in the market, with a total ownership of 30.22 million units, accounting for 68.74% of the total ownership of new energy vehicles, highlighting the core position of pure electric technology in the consumer market.

In 2025, there will be 12.93 million newly registered new energy vehicles, accounting for 49.38% of the total number of newly registered vehicles, nearly half of the country, an increase of 1.68 million vehicles compared to 2024, a year-on-year increase of 14.93%, and maintaining a steady growth trend.

From a market perspective, by the end of 2025, the total number of automobiles in China will reach 366 million. With a huge market base, the rapid increase in the number of new energy vehicles is inseparable from breakthroughs in core technologies such as batteries and motors, as well as the increasingly improved supporting infrastructure such as charging piles.

Looking back at the development process, the number of new energy vehicles in China has increased 365 times from 120000 at the end of 2014 to nearly 44 million today, becoming a leader in the global development of new energy vehicles.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Security, China's vehicle ownership will exceed 10 million by June 2022, 20 million by the end of 2023, and 30 million by the end of 2024.
