After years of patent disputes and legal battles, Samsung Electronics' relationship with Chinese panel giant BOE is undergoing a dramatic turning point.

According to the blogger "i Ice Universe", as the two parties reach a settlement on display patents, Samsung is exploring the possibility of using BOE OLED panels in future Galaxy S flagship series phones.

He said, "After the patent settlement between BOE and Samsung Display, Lu Taiwen met with BOE's CEO to explore the possibility of using BOE OLED screens for the Galaxy S flagship. ”

Samsung has long been a leader in global display panel technology, and its AMOLED panels have been one of the core differentiated hardware components of flagship products such as Galaxy S, Note, and Z Fold.

However, with the intensification of competition in the smartphone market, the pressure on overall machine costs has surged. Faced with the choice of "raising prices" or "cutting costs", introducing Chinese suppliers with more cost advantages has become Samsung's breakthrough point.

Earlier reports indicated that Samsung had considered introducing Chinese OLED material suppliers to alleviate the pressure of rising display panel costs.

If this plan is ultimately implemented, Samsung will be able to find a better balance between price and profit, and on the other hand, it will indirectly acknowledge the strength of Chinese panel manufacturers in the high-end display market.
